Liverpool goalkeeper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Pepe-Reina-c29672: I'm not going to Manchester United
Liverpool shot-stopper and first-choice keeper, Pepe Reina has gone on to state that he is not going to be joining league leaders, Manchester United, at the end of the season. The keeper came forth with these comments, following him being linked with being
the replacement for soon-to-retire Edwin van der Sar, at Old Trafford.
Nonetheless, Reina has made things clear in a recent interview and is reported to have said, "I am not going to Manchester, that is not my intention. I don't know if I am a candidate for them; I am sure that they have evaluated a lot of goalkeepers, not
just [David] De Gea or Reina. They will probably have five or six options and I don't know if I am one of them."
The player then went on to state that he was finally happy at the club once again and said that he would continue serving the Reds, for as long as he could.
"I am happy, confident and will continue working so we can win more and more games," he said.
According to Reina, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 was heading into a revolution in the future and a number of new players would be brought into the side, which he hoped would help boost Liverpool back to their former glory.
"Apparently they want to sign important players, and they want the club to continue growing. I hope that we can go back to win titles, which is what a team like Liverpool needs," added the goalkeeper.
The Spaniard believes that Liverpool are playing much better than they had been in the past and if they kept this up, they could finish in fifth spot in the League, which would see them playing in Europe next year.
It is rather surprising to see the keeper go on to change his mind regarding his future, all of a sudden. The keeper had previously stated that should the Red not qualify for the UEFA Champions League, he would seriously go on to re-think his future at the
club, since he wanted to be playing at the highest level and not competing for a mid-table position.
However, it seems like the addition of Kenny Dalglish to the team has gotten the keeper to think otherwise. Under the Scotsman’s leadership, the team has gone from being in the bottom half of the table, to be competing for a European spot.
Should Dalglish stay in the side, Liverpool are bound to do even better next time around and perhaps this is what has helped the Spanish international re-think his stance.
