Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina decides to stay at Anfield in light of the uplift given by Kenny Dalgish
In spite of conceding two goals against Fulham, this Monday, May 10th, Kenny Dalglish has labelled Spanish international, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Pepe-Reina-c29672, as the best goalkeeper in the world.
He has been Liverpool’s most consistent performer over the past few years even when the club was producing one of its first shows.
Dalglish has time and again reiterated the importance of Reina to the Liverpool squad and hopes that the Spaniard plans to stay at Anfield.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38605 shot stopper loves the Kop, however, lack of top notch competition had driven him to the point where he was thinking about either returning back to the Catalan club or joining in-form archrivals, Manchester United, who would have been
more than glad to have him as Edwin van der Saar’s replacement.
However the latest news has brought joy to the Reds’ fans as Reina has confirmed he is planning to stay at Liverpool for another season.
Reina wanted to leave http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 so that he could once again compete on the top scale but with the arrival of Liverpool legend, Kenny Dalglish, Reds have found back their former glory.
Financial crisis, Rafael Benitez, Roy Hodgson and former owners, Tom Hicks and George Gillett, were the reasons behind one of Liverpool’s worst performances in 87 years.
The winter break saw a change in Liverpool’s run thanks to Dalglish’s re-emergence and new owners.
Now Liverpool is at the 5th position in the English Premier League and is struggling for a place in the Champions League.
While talking to the media, Reina recently commented about his loyalty to Kop, saying, “I am happy, calm and comfortable here. I am looking towards the future which I reckon will bring a lot of happiness and hopefully the new project with the new American
owners will be a convincing one. Obviously Benítez brought me here but that doesn’t mean that I’m unhappy with Dalglish, quite the opposite. I think he’s the ideal man for Liverpool at this moment”.
After Fenway Sports (owned by John W. Henry and Tom Werner) bought Liverpool, they provided the club with immense support which has satisfied the Liverpool board, management, players and fans.
Earlier in the season, when Reina was confused about his allegiance to Liverpool, Reina’s possible replacement was reckoned to be http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hugo-Lloris-c16408 (Lyon).
Now that Reina has decided to remain loyal to Liverpool, the fans, players and management is exuberant over his decision.
