Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina hints at Liverpool exit, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dirk-Kuyt-c11348 close to contract extension
Reports reveal Liverpool are set to offer Spanish goal keeper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Pepe-Reina-c29672 a £10,000-a-week pay rise in hopes of keeping him at Anfield. The Liverpool number one has been targeted by both Manchester United and Arsenal and he recently hinted he would
be interested in playing at Old Trafford.
In the wake of transfer rumors linking the stopper to other Premier League sides, Reina refused to rule out a move in the summer. The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 keeper confessed he was desperate for Champions League football and had a chance of getting that with Manchester
United, especially since their first choice keeper Edwin van der Sar was close to retirement.
Arsenal were also interested in the World Cup winning goal keeper after all three of their goal keepers failed to perform. However, it seems highly unlikely Reina will choose Arsenal over Manchester United. Reina’s agent will be in talks with Liverpool
to see if a deal can be agreed which would keep Reina at Anfield.
It will be heartbreaking for Liverpool supporters to see another top, first team player leave the club. Striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fernando-Torres-c13707 left for Chelsea during the January transfer window for the same reasons stated by Reina; Champions League football.
However, there is some good news for Liverpool as striker Dirk Kuyt revealed he wanted to end his career at Liverpool. The Dutch international revealed he was in talks which would extend his contract, keeping him at Anfield until his retirement.
Kuyt said while speaking to the official website, “My contract has one more season to go after this but there are things happening. We have had some talks and I can only say it looks positive. I feel at home in Liverpool and I don't want to leave here.”
The Dutchman continued, “It has been a difficult time for everyone at the club with the changes that have happened since last summer but now I can sense something good is happening - I think Liverpool are on the way back.”
The club has recently gone through a lot of changes; the arrival of the new owners, the departure of manager Roy Hodgson and his temporary replacement by Kenny Dalglish, the departure of Fernando Torres and last but not least the arrival of Luis Suarez
and Andy Carroll during the January transfer window.
To improve things the owners could start off by giving Dalglish a more permanent position, he has done an unexpectedly good job at the club. The next step would be to maintain the services of Pepe Reina, one of the best goal keepers in the English
Premier League.
