Liverpool goalkeeper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Pepe-Reina-c29672 wants the club manager Kenny Dalglish to stay with the Reds for many more seasons to come.
Dalglish has had a huge impact since joining the club in January 2011 and the Reds have the second best record to League leaders Manchester United since the turn of year.
The Scot was appointed for his second managerial stint with the club after the sacking of Roy Hodgson. Liverpool had a poor start to the ongoing 2010-11 season under Hodgson and they were struggling in the relegation zone when Dalglish took over.
Since then, Liverpool have climbed up the ladder and are now placed 6th on the Premier League table with 44 points from 33 matches. Reina has urged the Liverpool board to hand the 60-year-old a permanent role at the club.
Talking to the reporters, Reina said, “We all want him to stay. If he stays here on a long-term basis, I would be very happy. Like the rest of the lads. We have improved since Kenny became manager. We have beaten all of the big teams. But it is important
as players to repeat that in every game.”
“We need to be consistent; with the aggression and commitment, everything. We cannot just perform against the top sides because a season is 10 months long. If we get the balance right, we’ll be a lot, lot closer to where we want to be. We started this season,
and the last one, not the best. Next time, we need to make sure that doesn’t happen,” said the shot-stopper.
The former Villarreal goalkeeper believes that Dalglish has transformed Liverpool in the same way as Josep Guardiola did Barcelona. He added that both the managers have similar backgrounds, as they both were icon players for their respective clubs and great
managers as well.
The 28-year-old added that Dalglish knows the club very well and is the ideal candidate for the job. He reckons that being a club legend himself, Dalglish sets standards for the players and wants them to achieve them at any cost.
