  1. Liverpool in the 70s was a very dark time with unemployment levels at record heights and militant work strikes taking place rather frequently.  The city's economy was in a sharp decline and the city was more or less left to rot with no investment whatsoever.  However, in football and creatively the city was flourishing.  Liverpool FC were unstoppable under Bob Paisley and the Eric's club scene was churning out music stars of the future.

Today in Liverpool, the situation is much different.  The city is currently undergoing a major regeneration with the European Capital of Culture events.  Investentment has come back to the city with major developments taking place, employment is rising and tourists are flocking to the city.  It still has problems and more employment is still needed but things are definitely looking up.
