Pepe Reina has revealed that both the team and him are “excited” for the final and will look to add to his medal collection at Wembley on the 26th of February.
There is no denying that Liverpool are the firm favourites to lift this season’s Carling Cup trophy as they face Cardiff City in the final just before the end of the month. The match will mark the Merseyside club’s long overdue return to Wembley and is sure
to be a moment that their manager, Kenny Dalglish, will savour.
In a recent interview, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Pepe-Reina-c29672, who has been in outstanding form for his club this season, conceded that the return to a final in a cup competition took longer than he, or rather anyone, would have liked.
The Spanish goalkeeper said, “It has been a while. We all would have been happier seeing he team play in more cup finals, but that’s the way it goes.”
He continued, “After so much time, we are really excited by the final. It’s going to be huge for every single person that supports Liverpool.”
This will mark Reina’s third appearance in a final of a cup competition after being http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809’s goal keeper for both the FA Cup final, against West Ham United, and the UEFA Champions League, against AC Milan.
“This is why you sign for Liverpool; the club is here to that (try and win trophies). Not long ago, we were a club reaching finals and fighting for titles.”
He conceded that the club had not matched those cup runs in recent years but thinks that the club are heading in the right direction.
“That wasn’t the way for a while but now it’s what we are trying to achieve again. I think we are going the right way.”
Liverpool beat a number of Premier League sides on their way to the final including cup rivals http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786, Stoke City and Premier League highfliers, Manchester City, to book themselves a place in the final.
The match takes place on the 26th of this month and both sets of supporters are sure to be looking forward to what is sure to be an entertaining match.
