According to reports, Liverpool are keeping a close eye on the Polish footballer, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robert-Lewandowski-c31255 after the striker refused to renew his contract with Borussia Dortmund.
The 23-year old has been the star performer for the Bundesliga side, and played a key role in their league triumph this season. In his 33 league appearances, he scored 20 goals for the Black Yellows and also picked up 8 assists.
Despite his notable contribution for the German side, Dortmund have failed to come to an agreement with the player on the subject of his renewed salary. His agent relayed the apprehensions of the Polish footballer to the media, and revealed that an apparent
deadlock prevailed over whether he will renew his contract with the German side or not. However, he explained that Robert will continue to hold meetings with Dortmund, and no final decision has been taken as yet.
His agent, Cezary Kucharski told a German newspaper, “Whether Robert will play in black and yellow again next season is still open for debate.”
Dortmund are currently paying handsome salaries to some of their senior members in the squad, and the player’s agent believed that Robert’s phenomenal performance in the Bundesliga this season merits a salary comparable to the club’s highly paid players.
“We are disappointed with the offer. A player should belong to the class of Robert the best paid soccer players with Dortmund,” said Kucharski.
Robert arrived at the Signal Iduna Park on the 11th of June after signing a four year contract with the Borussians, for an estimated fee of 4.5 million Euros.
The player’s apparent discord with his present club has reportedly lit up the eyes of Kenny Dalglish, who has struggled with his attacking options this season.
The Reds currently find themselves at the eighth place in the table, and have scored the least number of goals in the league amongst the top nine teams. Their lamentable position has been attributed by many to their inability to convert chances.
