Former Liverpool player, John Barnes, shares his frustration and amazement at how the Reds have managed to hit the post 30 times in the same season.

The Reds have only managed to score a total of 40 goals this season, two fewer than local rivals http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385, who have scored a total of 47 goals thus far.
However, that has not been without the want for trying, as Liverpool have hit the post an incredible 30 times this season in the Barclays Premier League, more than any other club.
Former Liverpool player and England international, John Barnes, admits that the statistic is something that he just cannot wrap his head around.
“It’s incredibly. In every game they have played this season, they have come close. If the goals were maybe six inches bigger, then we’d win the league.” An astute observation mixed with a bit of wishful thinking, although Liverpool would have scored a total
of 70 goals this season if the chances had been converted, which would see them score more goals than any other side apart from Manchester United and Manchester City.
Barnes continued, “I haven’t seen anything like it before, but its part of football. While it hasn’t happened for Liverpool this year, next year I hopeful they will convert a much larger percentage of the chances.”
One of the main culprits this season has been Luis Suarez who has hit the post more than any other Liverpool player in the current squad. Both http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jordan-Henderson-c19102 kept the club’s streak of hitting the woodwork alive when their efforts against
West Bromwich Albion rebounded off the post on the weekend.
Barnes, however, did see the positive side as well when he commented, “the pleasing thing is they are still creating chances. The players are good enough, we just need to add a little more composure in front of goal to our game.”
