Liverpool legends back Kenny Dalglish
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 legends Ian Rush and Steve McMahon have backed new manager Kenny Dalglish to turn things around at the club. Their comments come in the wake of Liverpool’s shocking loss at the hands of Blackpool on Wednesday night.
King Kenny has been in charge of two games so far, and both of those ended in defeat for the Reds. However, Ian Rush believes that it will not be long before the new manager brings Liverpool back to winning ways.
The former Reds striker said, “It is a big task, and something he has already said cannot be changed overnight. The fans have got to be realistic in their expectations. But at the same time, he won't be afraid to make tough, strong decisions, because he
will know that changes have to be made in certain areas if the team is to improve and move forward as quickly as they need to in this current situation.”
Ian Rush was Kenny Dalglish’s strike partner during Liverpool’s glory days. He said that Dalglish knew what he was getting into when he took on the role of caretaker manager. Rush said, “Knowing Kenny, he went into this with his eyes open, he would have
known what he was taking on when he accepted the job. He has watched Liverpool an awful lot, and no doubt had his opinions on what was required, so it is not as if he is coming in completely unprepared.”
Another Liverpool legend, Steve McMahon, blamed Liverpool’s recent decline on a lack of motivation and commitment on part of the players. He believes that the arrival of the new manager is sure to spur the players back into life.
Speaking on Kenny Dalglish’s chances of bringing Liverpool’s season back on track, McMahon said, “I certainly think that players like http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Paul-c29347 Konchesky and Milan Jovanovic will be chomping at the bit to try to impress their new manager, because they'll
be aware that it's either they shape up or ship out.”
Dalglish faces his most difficult challenge so far when Everton travel to Anfield for the Merseyside Derby on Sunday, 16
January, 2011.
