http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 are running the risk of losing the services of Raheem Sterling in the January transfer window, some reliable sources have learnt.
The Reds starlet, who came into prominence this term under the tutelage of Brendan Rodgers, has already won scores of admirers at just 18 years of age. His rapid rise this season also earned him an international call up from the national manager, Roy Hodgson.
However, interest from the Premier League’s top flight clubs such as Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal, coupled with the winger’s contract saga with the Reds has cast his Anfield future in doubt.
According to some reports, Sterling has spurned Rodgers’ overture to strike a new deal with Liverpool, as he is demanding a salary in the range of 50,000 pounds a week. The Ulsterman, though, deems his demand as being unreasonable, as he feels that the 18-year
old still needs to improve a lot before he can be put in the line of the club’s highly paid players.
The mercurial forward has already established a regular starting place at Liverpool this campaign. Given the opportunities and chances that have been afforded to him at such a young age, Rodgers earlier advised Sterling not to seek a future outside of Merseyside.
The manager warned the fledgling that he could destroy his career if he gets lured by lucrative offers from clubs such as Chelsea and United.
He told the reporters earlier in an interview, “If you are 17 and playing regularly, you would be very foolish not to commit yourself very quickly. If I was Raheem Sterling and his agents, I would look to tie it up very quickly.”
“The club and his representatives are in good dialogue and communication and hopefully we will get that resolved very soon, but there is no timescale.”
Nonetheless, despite all his efforts, the manager has so far failed to cajole the attacker into signing a new long term deal at Anfield. If some reports are to be believed, his agent has already been contacted by representatives from Chelsea and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429,
with the player himself more inclined towards making a switch to the latter.
Liverpool are yet to put any price tag on Sterling, as the club are vying to tie him up on a new contract. However, it is expected that United and Chelsea will offer an amount in the vicinity of 15 million pounds for the winger.
Apart from drawing interest from United, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 and Arsenal, rumour has it that title holders, Manchester City, will also enter the fray in January to lay claim to his services.
