Liverpool look to shore up their attack, Munich track Kuyt
Bayern Munich Chase Liverpool’s Dirk Kuyt
According to reports, Bayern Munich are interested in signing Liverpool midfielder Dirk Kuyt. The Bavarian side are planning to acquire the services of the 30-year-old as soon as possible, maybe even this January. However, neither the club nor the player
has given any indication of a move away.
The Dutch international has had an injury plagued season, but has still managed to score three goals and provide two assists in 12 appearances. His place in the first team is confirmed, even with the arrival of new manager Roy Hodgson, but his progress has
been hindered because of injuries.
Kuyt almost joined Inter Milan when Rafa Benitez took over in the summer, but Milan refused to meet the €15 million price tag the Reds placed on the player. Since then Kuyt has claimed that he is happy with the Reds. His contract expires in 2012.
Liverpool Eye Palmeiras Striker Kleber
Sources have revealed that Liverpool are interested in Kleber, the Palmeiras Sao Paulo striker, and have already made enquires about the player. Roy Hodgson’s side have been criticised for relying too heavily on Fernando Torres, and are supposedly looking
for another striking option.
Kleber arrived at Palmeiras from Cruzeiro Belo Horizonte at the start of the season for €5 million, but failed to settle in. Since then the Brazilian side have been facing financial trouble, and will be willing to sell the 27-year-old striker for about €7
million.
The former Dynamo Kyiv striker, has scored nine goals in 25 appearances so far this season. He possesses the ability to play as a target man or a supporting striker. He is also excellent in the air, despite being short and has good pace. Liverpool could
definitely use someone like him.
Liverpool Target Ziegler Rules Out A Move
Liverpool target Reto Ziegler insists that he wants to stay at Sampdoria. He said,
“I think president Riccardo Garrone knows I want to stay here. I feel 100 percent Sampdoria, and I want to wear this shirt for another three or four years.”
Ziegler’s contract expires at the end of this season, and he has been unable to reach an agreement over a new deal. The 24-year-old former Tottenham player has been linked with a number of clubs, but maintained that he planned to stay at Sampdoria.
He said, “I hope to reach an agreement on 1 January. It has been reported that the gap between what is being demanded and offered is great. But that is not true, it's small. Sampdoria know that if they come up to me just a little bit, I'll be ready to
sign.”
