Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish applauds his team for a wonderful recovery – EPL news
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 manager Kenny Dalglish has applauded his team for staying in contention for a UEFA Europa League spot.
The Reds were lying in the relegation zone when Dalglish took charge of the club in January 2011. Since his arrival, the club has made a remarkable turnaround and are now placed sixth in English Premier League table.
With only seven games left to play in the League in the ongoing 2010-11 season, Liverpool drift five points behind fifth placed Tottenham Hotspur. Dalglish does not want to think so far ahead and wants to win the upcoming Premier League tie against Manchester
City.
However, the manager has credited his team for the wonderful spirit they have shown in the last three months.
Dalglish told Liverpool’s official TV channel, “I still don't think sixth place is the position we actually want to be in, but credit to the players because there have only been two transfers out and two in, and the lads that have got us to where we are
deserve great credit for it. I don't think they could have done much more.”
“I think they've done more than they possibly could. We've won some games maybe people thought we couldn't win and we've lost other games we thought we should win, but at the end of the day, as we keep saying, we will add up the points at the end of the
season and see where we are,” he added.
The Scot added that if his team manages to finish fifth in the League, it would be a big achievement for them given the sizeable comeback they have made in a short span of time.
The 60-year-old added that team is in high spirits and the players are itching to play their next game to bounce back strongly from the 2-1 defeat at the hands of West Bromwich Albion recently.
He added that the players are disappointed with their recent result and they know the importance of earning maximum points from their future fixtures. The Reds also lost two of their important players Glenn Johnson and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniel-Agger-c9884 through injuries in the
West Brom game and they are expected to be on the sidelines for a long time.
