Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish delighted with new contract – English Premier League news
Liverpool manager, Kenny Dalglish, has expressed his delight at being offered a new contract with the club. The Scot has signed a three-year deal which will see him take over the reins of the club beyond the current season of the Barclays Premier League.
Kenny Dalglish was appointed as interim manager in January to replace the failed Roy Hodgson. Under Hodgson, Liverpool had gotten off to their worst start to a Premier League campaign in more than 50 years. At one point, the Reds were floundering in the
relegation zone. After six months of lackluster performances, the fans finally had enough. Roy Hodgson was dismissed from his position, and fan favourite Kenny Dalglish was appointed to steady the ship until the end of the campaign.
But Daglish has done more than just steady the ship. The Scot has completely transformed the club in his short time in charge. Liverpool have clawed their way up into the European slots of the Premier League table, an amazing achievement for a side which
found itself in the bottom three just a few months ago.
Dalglish’s original contract was set to expire by the end of the season, but the club’s owners have now offered the inspirational coach a contract extension, one which will keep him in charge at Anfield until 2014.
Speaking on the matter, Dalglish said, “I said when I took the job on in January that I was just happy to help the club out for the remainder of the season. Now the owners have decided in their wisdom that they want me to stay a little longer and it's fantastic
news for both myself and (assistant coach) Steve Clarke that we have signed these contracts. They (the owners) understand what the supporters want from a Liverpool side and the way that we should go about things.
He added, “This is a unique football club and I'm delighted to have the opportunity to help build something special here again."
