Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish hopeful of beating Manchester United – FA Youth Cup
Liverpool manager, Kenny Dalglish is confident that his http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/U-17-Youth-team-c40787 can beat Manchester United in the quarterfinals of the FA Youth Cup on Sunday.
The Scot believes that at this growing period, he expects most of the boys to make it to the first team squad.
Dalglish told http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809’s official television channel, “It's a fantastic day for the kids to be playing at Anfield once again, particularly against Manchester United, whose youth system has been fantastically successful for them over the years.”
He said that United’s principle has been the same as theirs which was about getting players through to the first team and not caring about winning the FA Youth Cup.
“I remember years ago they lost to Leeds United in the Youth Cup final. Leeds got one player through who lasted a couple of years; United got Beckham, Giggs, the Nevilles, Scholes. We'd sacrifice the Youth Cup to get that number and quality of players,”
added Dalglish.
Dalglish further said that the tie was a special occasion for the lads, as Liverpool were competing with Manchester United not only at the senior level but at all levels. He believes that United will also be feeling like them and will be looking forward
to the clash.
The current crop of youngsters at Liverpool is undoubtedly one of the best the club has ever had. The Under-18 Reds thrashed Southern 9-0 in their last Youth Cup match.
Dalglish took four of the youngsters with the first team; when they travelled to face Sparta Prague in the UEFA Europa League’s round of 32 fixture. Conor Coady, Raheem Sterling, John Flanagan and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jack-Robinson-c17461 were the U18 players who travelled to Prague.
The manager is impressed by the attitude of the youngsters after they returned from the trip. The lads immediately reported back to their training camp at Kirkby. The boys did not get complacent, kept their heads down and gave their best in training.
