The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 manager Kenny Dalglish wants to take no risks with his world class midfielder Steven Gerrard. His skipper has been out of action lately due to a groin injury. Speculation was rife Gerrard was would be making his reappearance in the fixture
against West Bromwich Albion, however, King Kenny rebuked that idea saying he will not have him play unless he is certain of his recovery.
Dalglish went on to say that rushing the English International back on the green could aggravate the injury hence Gerrard would have to clear the medical examination if he wants to play. Head of Sports Medicine at Liverpool, Peter Brukner is yet to comment
on the issue but it can be predicted that Gerrard will be handed a late set of scans and tests which will determine his recovery.
The Anfield Boss was glad to have his stars return from International duty. King Kenny showed signs of relief after the group returned on Thursday and reports of no major injuries or set backs were confirmed.
Some players had received a couple of knocks because of which they were immediately sent to the Medical Team. They are yet present a report on the injury list but hopefully no harm has been done to any player.
Dalglish was happy with the way the Head of Football Association and coach of England, Fabio Capello had utilized his players. He was glad that striker Andy Carroll and right back http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Glen-Johnson-c15050 had returned from the trip unscathed.
Answering questions about Gerrard, Dalglish stated, “We'll have a look. He's recovered really well from the surgery he had so we'll see how he is before we decide whether he's in or out.”
Reports on other injuries are due soon too. Liverpool defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jonjo-Shelvey-c19081 had to undergo knee surgery, however, according to early assessment the player is
scheduled for an early comeback.
A satisfied Dalglish went on to say, “Everyone has come back from international matches okay. Martin Kelly picked up an injury while he was trying to recuperate, a wee recurrence in the same area.”
The Scotsman concluded, “Fabio Aurelio has had a setback as well but it isn't the same injury and he should be training before the end of the week while Jonjo Shelvey is back training.”
With 8 games left in the season, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 and Manchester City still don’t have a firm grip on a Champions League spot. Liverpool are currently positioned at 6th place in the Premier League table. However, just 4 points separate them from Tottenham
Hotspur and with the Spurs involved in UEFA Champions League as well, Liverpool might just creep past Harry Redknapp's men, who'll have a much more tiring schedule than the Reds.
