Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish says Roy Hodgson has nothing to prove against the Reds
Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish believes that Roy Hodgson has nothing to prove when the Reds take on West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns on Saturday evening.
Hodgson will play against his former club for the first time since leaving the club in January 2011. Hodgson was named as the manager of the Reds before the start of the ongoing 2010-11 season but things did not work out as he had initially planned for the
club and Liverpool found themselves in the bottom of the League table in November 2010. The 63-year-old had a torrid time with the club and had to be sacked after just six months in charge.
Kenny Dalglish replaced him and the team has seen a considerable revival under him as they are placed 6th on the League table and are fighting for a UEFA Champions League spot for the next season. All eyes are on Hodgson who is playing against
his former club but Dalglish says that the focus should be on the match and not on the manager.
“Roy hasn't got anything to prove to anybody. If you say he has extra motivation then you are doubting the man's integrity and implying he never had enough motivation before. It's Liverpool versus West Brom and we'll face a team that has been prepared by
Roy. I don't have a problem with that. It'll be nice to see him again,” said Dalglish.
He added, “West Brom were tough to beat here when Roberto (Di Matteo) was in charge. They played very well here. We won 1-0 but it was a very difficult game. Roy brings his own management style to the club and they have done well since he went in there.
We are looking forward to the game and it will be nice to see Roy again.”
Dalglish has huge respect for Hodgson and insisted that it is just a http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 versus West Bromwich Albion game for him and he is not aiming to show that he is a better manager than him.
He praised the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan manager and said that he is an excellent manager and has changed the things since arriving at West Brom.
