Liverpool caretaker manager Kenny Dalglish has stated that Fernando Torres will find his long-lost form in the coming days. The striker has had a dry season so far, scoring just 6 goals in 22 matches. His form has slumped dramatically
in the last eight games in which he has managed only one goal.
Dalglish, however, praised the Spanish striker, saying, “It is strange when you talk about people of his caliber having a lack of confidence but at the same time he is still a top goal scorer and someone everyone fears when he
goes on the pitch. We will do our best to get as much as we possibly can from Fernando, the same as we will do for every other player.”
The Liverpool boss insisted that Torres also needs to work hard himself to regain his goal-scoring form. Dalglish stated that Liverpool does not rely on individuals and the club has been and always will perform as a team. He also
urged other team members to assist Torres in ending the striker’s goal drought.
Earlier this month, Torres rebuffed all rumours linking him with a move out of Anfield. He also reiterated on Dalglish’s point of team unity to revive the club’s season.
Dalglish has enjoyed success at Anfield during the 1980s both as a player and a manager. However, he has had a poor start to his managerial return at the club. He lost his first match in charge 1-0 to Manchester United in an FA
Cup tie. Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard received a red card during the fixture for a two-footed tackle. Gerrard is now suspended for the next 3 games raising problems for his manager.
On his captain’s suspension, Dalglish said, “Any team which has http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Steven-Gerrard-c34196 in it is going to be much better than one without it. But we have to get on with it and the most important people for us are the ones which are available,
not the ones who are unavailable because they can't dictate the result of games.”
Dalglish’s main job will be to revive Liverpool’s Premier League season. His team currently lies 13th on the League table only 4 points out of the relegation zone. Dalglish’s first match in the League ended in disappointment
as Liverpool lost their away game against Blackpool 1-2 on the 12th of January. Blackpool has already beaten the Merseyside club 2-1 this season, at Anfield.
