Having spent last season at AC Milan and the season prior to that at Juventus, Aquilani has made more appearances for other clubs than the club he actually signed for. It was Rafael Benitez who signed the injury prone midfielder, while he was injured, and Aquilani never really settled in at Anfield.
However, with the new manager, things may have changed as Brendan Rodgers has admitted that he would like to hold talks with Aquilani to discuss whether or not the player would like to continue at the club and assess the feasibility of the move as well.
According to his agent, the player has spoken to executives at the club, "We had a meeting with English executives but for the time being, nothing has emerged," said Aquilani’s agent, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Franco-c14050 Zavaglia, "We expect a response from Liverpool which should arrive within the week."
Zavaglia continued to quash rumours that Aquilani would leave the club before his contract was up and that becoming a free agent was not an option. "There is absolutely no possibility that Aquilani can become a free agent in order to then decide what to do.”
As for where the Italian midfielder will be playing next season, it seems that no one has the answers as Zavaglia conceded, "I don't know if he wants to stay at Milan, we shall see. We just have to wait and see what happens and what Liverpool decides."
The Reds could do with some quality cover in midfield as it was an area the Merseyside club found themselves short during their previous campaign following injuries suffered by both http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lucas-c22528 Leiva and Charlie Adam.
