http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809’s Jay Spearing has called for a repeat of the thrilling 5-2 performance against Fulham in their next clash at Anfield with Tottenham Hotspur. The midfielder wants to seal the fifth place by defeating the Londoners at Anfield to qualify for UEFA
Europa League next season.
Spearing stated that Spurs are a very good side and they can defeat any team with the quality players they have. He admitted that it will be a difficult game for his side but said that a repeat of the Craven Cottage performance will surely win them three
points.
“On their day they can turn it on if they want to. The amount of players they've got and the standard of players they've got means it's going to be a difficult game at Anfield. But we're the home team and if we play like we did against Fulham we'll put them
under pressure,” he was quoted as saying.
The Liverpool Academy graduate rated the game against Harry Redknapp’s side as vital in Reds’ qualification bid for the Europa League. He insisted that the side is determined to end the season on a high and win the remaining matches in the Premier League.
The 22-year-old added that his side is capable of defeating the North London opposition with the current form. He said that the players are full of confidence and a win would definitely secure their status in Europe.
“The game on Sunday is going to be massive. The Europa League is still a massive competition and Liverpool need to be attempting to win as much silverware as possible. We want to end the season on a high and we've got to chase Tottenham. We showed against
Fulham what we're all about and we want to finish high,” he concluded.
Liverpool are currently in fifth place on the League standings table with 58 points, two points ahead of Tottenham Hotspur. The Reds need one win to secure European status next season and this weekend’s crunch clash with Spurs will decide the fate.
