Liverpool midfielder keen for strong team performance against Tottenham Hotspur
Liverpool midfielder Christian Poulsen says he is eager for his side to put in a strong performance against English Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane on Sunday 28 November.
Spurs are currently three spots ahead of the Reds in the EPL table and have a three-point advantage over the Anfield club. They are also in terrific form, having netted six goals in their last two matches, beating bitter rivals Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium
and German outfit Werder Bremen in the UEFA Champions League in the process.
The London-based club are unbeaten in their last four games, while Liverpool returned to winning ways with a 3-0 victory over bottom club West Ham United on Saturday 20 November.
Danish international Poulsen is likely to start in the game following injuries to captain Steven Gerrard and, with Spurs in good form, has called for a unified display against Harry Redknapp's men.
He told Liverpool's official website: "They are in good form at the moment, so it will be a good test for us and a hard game of course. It's an away game, but with a good team performance we will have a chance to get something there. What really matters
at the moment is the team performance. We're trying to get better from game-to-game as a team, and that's the key. With the captain (Gerrard) out of action for a time, we need some good team performances.”
Poulsen is also aware of the threat posed by Spurs winger Gareth Bale, who has had several stellar showings of late, but the 30-year-old is confident that the Reds can handle the Welshman.
He added: "He is unbelievable at the moment. He is a really strong and key player for Tottenham, but I think we can keep him away from our goal.”
