Liverpool need the players to click to be counted as title contenders for EPL
Under their new manager, Kenny Dalglish, Liverpool managed to lose only five league games. The club’s Uruguayan centre forward, Luis Suarez, believes that they need to carry the form forward in to 2011/12 session of the English Premier League to stake a
claim for the title.
“This is something we’re optimistic about for next season and if we can hit the ground running and maintain the good form then I think we’ve got a good chance of doing well,” said Luis Suarez.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jordan-Henderson-c19102 for a £20 million transfer fee. The fans are excited and believe their club is headed in the right direction. Dalglish’s plans for the future of the club are like writing on the
wall. They are crystal clear.
Liverpool have not been tagged with ‘buying success’ just yet. That is due to the fact that Dalglish is looking to build a mix of both talent and experience. The addition of young English players to the squad is part of a long term plan. On the other hand,
the experienced players are there to ensure that Liverpool manage to play good competitive football and fight for top honours. They still need to be able to qualify for the next UEFA Champions League, which is a major part of their plans for the 2011/12 season.
The club bought Andy Carroll for £35 million in January earlier this year. How he plays alongside Henderson is yet to be seen. Both are exciting players to watch and are full of talent, but they lack the experience of winning trophies that Liverpool badly
needs.
There is no telling how Henderson will play either. Whether he is a success or will he succumb under the English Premier League pressure will depend on how King Kenny handles him psychologically. Carroll needs to continue his decent form as well. He needs
to make sure that he does not let the goals to dry up. Henderson should also continue to make those assists and passes that highlight his http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Skills-c40539 with the ball. He created fourth most chances for his team mates.
The new guns need to gel with the old horses of the team. The never-aging Gerrard needs to remain fit this time around. His absence hurt Liverpool last year. Suarez has to be solid in his position to take the ball forward and try to find the back of the
net.
English Premier League is more fast-paced than ever. It is gruelling. The pressure takes toll on the players. Liverpool have to keep up to all of that. They must also realise that the Premier League is no longer about the top four. The rise of Manchester
City and Tottenham Hotspur have changed the dynamics altogether. It is anybody’s cup from the top six clubs. The last season has proven that already.
All top contenders are busy bolstering their squads. Liverpool have been no different. But, they also have a challenge at hand. They need their new kids to work together with the senior faces. The team needs to click to be seriously counted. They have the
strike force to launch an all out offensive on their opponents but can the likes of Henderson and Carroll deliver throughout the season, or will they be lacklustre in the start and progress gradually?
Liverpool’s title hopes are rested on how soon the players click. Either ways, we cannot count them out. At least not just yet.
