Liverpool offer midfielder Joe Cole £4.7million a year deal
Joe Cole has attracted interest from many top clubs in the Premier League since becoming a free agent at Chelsea. It has been reported that Liverpool have now stepped in with an offer he may not refuse.
The bosses at Anfield have pitched a deal to the 28-year-old which would see him earn a massive £4.7million-a-year, and would potentially make him Roy Hodgson's first major signing.
Cole could also be expected to receive a significant signing-on fee if he moves to Anfield.
Liverpool's offer isn't exactly a massive increase on what Cole was earning at Stamford Bridge, but the Merseysiders believe footballing rather than financial concerns will be the main factor in his decision.
The talented midfielder spoke after the World Cup about regular first team football being his main priority, but also expressed his preference to remain near London, for family reasons.
So, with Tottenham also in the chase to secure a deal, Cole may still take some time to consider his options, but will surely be tempted to join the reds.
