Liverpool owner John Henry refuses to be drawn on manager Kenny Dalglish’s future
Liverpool owner John W Henry has refused to comment on manager Kenny Dalglish’s future with the club, claiming that it is not ‘the Liverpool way’ to reveal what is going on behind closed doors at Anfield.
Kenny Dalglish took over the reins of the club back in December. The Scot replaced Roy Hodgson at helm, who had endured six unsuccessful months at Anfield prior to the Scot’s appointment. By the time Dalglish arrived, the Reds were in dire straits.
Liverpool were 12th in the Premier League table, and they looked completely devoid of ideas on the pitch.
The Scot has worked wonders in the short time he has been in charge. Under the guidance of Dalglish, Liverpool look a completely different side. The Reds have won 20 of the last 30 Premier League points on offer, bringing them into sixth place in the
League standings.
It has led to speculation that Kenny Dalglish could be offered a long term managerial contract at Liverpool. In fact, there are reports of a deal that had already been finalized.
However, Liverpool owner John W Henry is not commenting on the matter. The American refused to discuss Kenny Dalglish’s future at Anfield, claiming that it was against club policy.
Henry said, “What is going on in that regard is private. It is something called 'the Liverpool way' and you do these things behind closed doors. I am not going to talk about these things. He (Dalglish) has done very well."
Dalglish himself also claims to be unconcerned with his long term future. The Scot insisted that there was no truth behind the recent reports, saying that he had not been offered a new contract.
The Liverpool manager said, “As regards the job, I have seen in the papers I have asked for four years. Well, I don't know who I asked. I saw that I was offered two (years) - I don't know who sent that in.”
He added, “But there have been no detailed discussions about next season, so until there is something that's to be said, we cannot make it up."
