Liverpool plan shock move for David Bentley
Liverpool who are currently suffering one of the worst seasons in the team’s recent history are looking to turn their season around by making a bid for a player who himself is in desperate need to turn his career around.
The player that the team has lined up is Tottenham’s out of favour midfielder, David Bentley. The twenty six year old attacking midfielder has not managed to play a single minute of football in the Premier League this season and is now
in a desperate struggle to get some first team action, which he knows he won’t be getting at Tottenham in the near future.
Bentley had been previously linked with a move to Anfield on numerous occasions in the past, but the idea never really materialized and as a result the player was left stranded at Tottenham. However with Roy Hodgson already stated that
he was looking to bring in around five to six players in the January transfer window and with Spurs looking to let go of Bentley, he might just be one of the players to make the move to Anfield.
From the second half of last season, it looked like Harry Redknapp had lost the little faith that he had in Bentley as the player didn’t really perform up to the standards that were expected of him. He only managed to play nineteen games
last season and his efforts were close to being useless for the team. This season, the only time that he has taken the pitch is when Tottenham have been called into action in the Carling Cup.
Liverpool will however also be well aware of the fact that the player is currently also linked with a move to both Aston Villa and Blackburn. The player would however for obvious reasons opt to make a move to Liverpool instead if he is
given the opportunity.
That being said, considering the player has majorly fallen out of favour at the club and is personally also looking to move away from the team, the player would cost peanuts according to most experts.
The current market evaluation of the player is set at around five million, which is a price that Liverpool can easily afford. Nonetheless the only question that needs to be asked is, do Liverpool really need a player who has proven that
he can’t rise to the occasion when required, considering the situation the club is in at the moment? That question however will only be answered once the transfer window opens in January.
