Liver is an old English word for dark. The liver in your body is so called because it was the darkest of the organs.

Liverpool literally means dark pool, and was the name given to a tidal inlet of the River Mersey which was particularly dark when the tide went out.

Its all filled in now, but it used to run from the river by the Albert dock up Paradise St and formed a pool near to the entrance of the old Mersey tunnel.

Umm liverpool is place in northwest england ( thats were im from)  it has 2 main football clubs Liverpool f.c being the more succesful of the 2.( and the most successful english football team in history) The beatles all hailed from liverpool. it is currently celebrating being voted capital of culture 2008. The people from liverpool are known as " scousers " and theyre known for there distinct accent. alot of people see liverpudlians as  robbers and thieves.. but this is jus a stereotype. halle berrys mum is from liverpool.. and kim catrall was born here too.  Liverpool and manchester have a rivalry which mostly comes from football . The liver building is a buildng with 2 fictional birds on top of it.. 1 looking out to sea to keep the sea men safe and the other watching over the city..it was once the biggest port in the world and had a massive part in the slave trade.
