The departure of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fernando-Torres-c13707 in the winter transfer window for 50 million pounds and the arrival of Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll is a signal of intent by the English giants; they mean business and are well on their way to the
Top 5 group in the Barclay’s English Premier League.
With the weekend’s win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, Liverpool have once again reintroduced themselves into the arena of English football. Currently ranked sixth in the Premier League table and just six points behind Tottenham
Hotspur and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786, Kenny’s boys are giving out all the right signals.
However, a lot of work still needs to be done with the club. New players need to be incorporated into the line-up and the remainder of the season needs to be dealt with, in the same flamboyant demeanour that Liverpool have adopted
under Dalglish. Next up are Wigan Athletic and a beating must be in order for Roberto Martinez’s men. Nothing should be taken for granted for now, as the team is still acclimatizing to their new formation.
The next big task for Kenny has to be Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll’s inclusion in the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dirk-Kuyt-c11348 upfront, this setup leaves no
room for the skilful Suarez or the robust Carroll. Maybe, Kenny will introduce Suarez as the front man in place of Kuyt in one of Liverpool’s upcoming matches.
However, the Uruguayan target man is not as hard working as the Dutchman thus there will be some opportunity cost if this change takes place. Andy Carroll, Liverpool’s 35-million-pound man is presently out with a thigh injury.
His comeback is scheduled to take place in March and until then Kenny has sufficient time to work around a system that brings the best out of his two new strikers.
Additionally, Dalglish has begun to incorporate youth into Liverpool’s starting line-up. Martin Kelly’s start as Liverpool’s first choice wing-back is another example of their manager’s long-sightedness. Kelly’s performances have
paid back the trust that has been put into him thus far by Liverpool’s new manager.
On the other hand, Liverpool fans have already moved on from Fernando Torres. Their number 9’s betrayal has been momentarily forgiven but football fans rarely forget such treacherous acts. Fernando’s lack of performance for Chelsea
on the weekend was yet another soothing factor for the Anfield faithful, who have seen tough times in the English Premier League. Now, all the praise is reserved for the kids on the block; kids who have traits which will allow them to step into Torres’ shoes.
All in all, the future looks bright for Liverpool. Perhaps, 2012 Allianz Arena is not that far away but right now the Aviva stadium awaits the Reds in Dublin in 2011.
