Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard out for four weeks with groin injury - English Premier League
Liverpool’s captain, Steven Gerrard has been ruled out of action for the coming four weeks. This is because the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 International finally underwent the knife to target his long-term groin injury in order to overcome it once and for all.
Gerrard, due to this injury, missed out on his team's trip to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Portugal-c2984 to take on Sporting Braga in the Europa league, which Liverpool went on to lose by a goal to nil. However, it now seems like the midfielder is bound to miss out on a number of more games,
while the rest of squad will be looking to give it their all.
At the moment, if the 30-year-old's surgery goes according to plan and he recovers as scheduled, he will sit out the return leg with Braga, while missing out Premier League clashes against Sunderland and West Brom.
The player will also be missing in action for international duty, as he would not be able to feature in the English International side when they take on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ghana-c2905 in a friendly.
At the moment, the player is looking to make his come-back against Manchester City, when the Eastlanders travel to Anfield to take on the Reds.
According to a statement that was released on the clubs website, “LFC can today confirm that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Steven-Gerrard-c34196 has undergone successful surgery on his groin and will be out for up to four weeks. The decision was made following consultation with a specialist.”
So far this season, Steven Gerrard has been mostly invisible for Liverpool and even when he has featured in the squad, he has not looked to provide the level of impact that one has come to expect of him.
Instead the team has found a new midfield hero in the form of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Raul-Meireles-c30678, who has been quite simply phenomenal for the Reds this term, especially since the arrival of Kenny Dalglish to the side.
For this very reason, the absence of Gerrard from the squad is not going to have the same impact that it would have had a season or two ago. Which is kind of a positive sign for the team when thought about; had Gerrard still been the main man for the team,
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 would have found it close to impossible to maintain their pressure on landing a European spot by the end of the season in his absence.
However, the cult hero's absence from the side is still going to have an impact on the mentality of the players, but Dalglish will try his best to maintain things the way they are and get the best out of his men in the mean time.
