Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish has revealed that the Reds influential skipper, Steven Gerrard, will not start in the upcoming Merseyside derby against Everton at Goodison Park.
The English midfielder made his first appearance in Liverpool’s 2-1 win over http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Brighton-c38685 and Hove Albion last week as he was out of action due to a groin injury since March, 2011. The Liverpool captain played 20 minutes in a Carling Cup tie and was again given
a substitute appearance in the Premier League win over Wolverhampton Wanderers last week.
Gerrard has given extraordinary performances against his local rivals, Everton, in the past and it was suggested that the midfielder could be given a starting berth when Liverpool travel to Goodison Park.
However, the 31-year-old midfielder is still to regain his full match fitness. Dalglish has confirmed that the Reds captain will not be rushed back to the starting eleven and will be on bench against the Toffees.
The Scotsman knows http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-c10409 Moyes’ men, however, Dalglish believes that Gerrard’s smooth return to fitness is more important than the Merseyside derby.

The Reds attacker, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dirk-Kuyt-c11348, has also heaped praise on Gerrard’s impact at the Anfield club and has claimed that the Englishman’s return has boosted the morale of the squad.
The Dutchman wants to see his skipper feature in the fierce Red-Blue derby of Merseyside as he believes that Gerrard is the most influential player in the squad.
“Stevie has still been around the club, but where you really want to see Stevie is out on the pitch. He will be as influential as ever because you can see his determination in training. He is very important and can lift us,” the 31-year-old striker concluded.
