Liverpool table €12.5 million bid for Lille star Gervinho
The reports coming out of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 suggest that Liverpool have launched a €12.5 m bid for Lille’s attacker Gervinho.
The versatile attacker can play in a variety of positions up front. He is preferred on the wings by Lille boss but he can also play as a second striker.
The Ivory Coast international was the best player for his country at the World Cup and he overshadowed bigger names such as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Didier-Drogba-c11044 and the Toure brothers.
Liverpool boss, Roy Hodgson is keen to add some firepower to his attack and sees Gervinho as an ideal player to do that.
The 23 year old has pace to burn and has a very deft touch too. However, it remains to be seen that whether Lille are willing to part ways with their star man.
Liverpool scouts have been spotted quite a few times at the games involving Lille. There have been rumours linking Liverpool with the Belgian starlet, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Eden-Hazard-c11863 as well.
Hazard has been linked with nearly all top clubs and he along with Gervinho has taken Lille to the top of French league.
According to reports, Lille are demanding at least €15m for the Ivory Coast international and it remains to be seen how the negotiations proceed between the two clubs. Roy Hodgson and Damien Comolli see Gervinho as a top talent and believe that the hype
surrounding Hazard will allow them to land his compatriot, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gervinho-c14755, for cheap.
Meanwhile, Birmingham City have approached Liverpool to sign http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ryan-Babel-c31971 on loan till the end of the season but Liverpool have stated that they are not willing to let anyone leave in the January transfer window and would rather like to add a few players.
"We have a lot of ideas," said http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 boss, Roy Hodgson. "We're not looking to move anybody out and it would be nice if we could improve our squad with one or two players.”
Hodgson has also hinted that most of the transfer activity should be expected towards the end of the January. He was adamant that Liverpool are looking for first team players who could cost big money.
A bid for Gervinho would make sense as he will bring much needed pace on the wings of Liverpool side and the price tag seems reasonable.
