Liverpool to make an improved bid for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Stewart-Downing-c34221, eye Jose Enrique to strengthen their left flank
Liverpool’s bid of £15 million for 26-year-old winger Stewart Downing has reportedly been rejected by Aston Villa, who are certain they can get as much as £20 million for the England international. Downing has been on Liverpool’s transfer list since the
beginning of the summer transfer window and the Reds boss Kenny Dalglish is determined to land the winger.

next season. Since joining Villa in the 2009-2010 season, Downing has been in top form.
It has been since his arrival at Villa Park that he has earned a call up for the England national team, having been dropped from the team in 2008. Downing joined Villa on a four year deal from relegated side Middlesbrough for a fee of £10 million. He has
gone on to make 63 appearances in the Premier League and has scored 9 goals in his two seasons at the club.
Dalglish has so far only bought http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jordan-Henderson-c19102 from Sunderland for £16 million and is looking to add reinforcements to the squad before the new season. While England under-21 international midfielder, Henderson, is a step towards solving the Reds’ problems
in midfielder, Dalglish is aware he is in desperate need of wingers.
This is where Downing comes in; the English winger will add much needed width to the left flank, if Liverpool are successful in signing him. Downing is reportedly keen on a move to Anfield, but his move has been stalled due to negotiations and failure to
reach an agreement. Once Villa agree to a bid, it is only a matter of time before the left-winger completes his move to Liverpool.
Another left-flank player currently on Dalglish’s list is Newcastle United left-back Jose Enrique, the 25-year-old former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 under-21 international. The Scot manager had his sights set on Arsenal’s Gael Clichy, but the 25-year-old Frenchman signed with
Manchester City instead. This has caused Dalglish to turn his attentions to his back-up option for left-back, Enrique.
Dalglish is willing to pay as much as £8 million for the Spaniard, who is rumoured to be heading towards a Newcastle exit. He arrived at the Premier League club in the 2007-2008 season from Villarreal for a fee of £6.3 million. After the first two seasons,
Enrique went on to establish himself in the starting XI. He has made a http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Total-c40747 of 129 appearances for the Magpies in all competitions and has scored once.
His performance over the last two seasons has been exceptional, which earned him the interest of other clubs and the Newcastle United player of the season for 2009–10. He claimed loyalty and a desire to remain with the club after he received offers from
Sunderland when Newcastle United were relegated at the end of the 2009 season.
However, having helped them back into the Premier League, Enrique is ready to move on to bigger and better things it seems. So far he has been linked with a move to Liverpool, but the Reds have yet to make an official for Enrique.
