Liverpool to replace Torres with Forlan
It is believed that Roy Hodgson is lining up a shocker of a bid to replace Fernando Torres with Diego Forlan. This is why it was feared that the Spanish striker was ready and more than willing to walk out of Anfield.
Apparently the new boss at Anfield is looking to build the squad for the future and has now turned his shrewd sights to Athletico Madrid Golden Boy and FIFA World Cup 2010 Golden Ball winner, Diego Forlan. He wants to try and lure the striking sensation back to the Premier League if he is willing to want to make the move this summer.
The Liverpool top officials are reported to have already contacted Athletico Madrid in the past couple of days to check whether or not the player would be allowed to make a move this transfer window. The Athletico officials said that they were valuating the Uruguayan ace striker at around, fifiteen million pounds and if a team was to make a bid around that region, then they would consider letting the player go.
Forlan however recently made his desire to stay at the club public while publicly stating he was very happy and wished to end his career there. He concluded the statement by saying that he would still be tempted like any other player if there was a very lucrative or good offer from another club abroad.
Liverpool are reported to want to make and official bid as soon as/ if Torres decides to leave the club. Roy Hodgson isn’t very optimistic on Torres saying at the club, which means it’s a matter of when and not if Torres leaves the club.
Torres would cost whatever team wishes to purchase him a good sum of fifty million pounds. Despite the fact that he had a more than disappointing reason with Spain during the World Cup, Chelsea were and still are willing to pay the asking price for the player in an attempt to lure him to the club to beef up their attack options.
The positive aspect of selling Torres would be that, Hodgson would inherit a large sum of money which he could invest in the club, to maybe beef it up so that they wouldn’t have a season as disappointing as the one they had last term.
Roy Hodgson is already also considering less renowned targets to make the move to Anfield with, Ipswich Town’s prolific goal scoring youngster Connor Wickham as one of his possible targets. He is looking to build a team for the future instead of just recruiting players to play the current run in of games. Connor Wickham would cost him a mere eight and a half million pounds, but whether or not he comes to Anfield is another story considering he has already rejected offers from Tottenham and Arsenal.
To sum it all up the signing of Forlan would be immense for Liverpool, but we will just have to wait and see whether or not the deal materializes in the future.
