Liverpool turndown a 20 Million Euro bid for Javier Mascherano from Barcelona

News is filing in that Liverpool Football Club has rejected an official bid from the Spanish giants, Barcelona on their world class midfielder Javier Mascherano.
Reports have concluded that the Catalans had presented the Reds with a bid of 20 million Euros for the Argentinean captain but the Anfield board has rejected the offer.
Since the last few weeks the Merseyside player has been demanded by Barca. Officials from Barca had earlier admitted that the club was interested in signing him and later reports had even concluded that salary and the transfer fee was agreed upon and all that was left was medical clearance.
It is obvious that Liverpool is an ailing club and it needs to get all advantages it can in this season to finish at a respectable place. Mascherano happens to be one of those keys that can lead to such a finish and the Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson knows that.
Hodgson will definitely try to take as much advantage from the deal if Mascherano has to eventually leave the club. The 26 year old midfielder has been demanding a transfer from his current club ever since the beginning of summer.
He has been closely related with a move to Inter Milan where his former manager Rafael Benitez is nowadays managing after his departure from Liverpool. It is no big secret that Benitez and Mascherano are on excellent terms with each other. Mascherano has himself stated that one of the reasons he wanted to make a move to Inter was because he wanted to be with Rafa and he wanted a change of club.
However Inter Milan had shown lack of response over a move to San Siro and therefore Barcelona hac been stepping in to avail the services of the world class striker who proved his worth again in the FIFA 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
The latest news of Inter and Masch is that Massimo Moratti has informed Roy Hodgson that the club is not making a bid for the Argentinean captain anymore. Masch has already taken part in Liverpool’s season opener against Arsenal.
The Blaugrana had presented 15 million Euros for Mascherano along with 5 million Euros in variables. Liverpool on the other hand is adamant about their 26 million Euro price. In a press conference recently, Hodgson clarified that Mascherano knows that if the price offered for him to the club is not good enough Liverpool will reject the bid and he will staying at Anfield.
