Liverpool v Manchester City – First half review: English Premier League - Part 1

his team’s two strikers. Liverpool played a conventional 4-4-2 formation with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dirk-Kuyt-c11348 on the wings.
At the back, the Reds went with a central defensive partnership of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fabio-c13152 Aurelio and John Flanagan at their customary full back positions. Flanagan’s place in Liverpool starting eleven came as a surprise to many
as Liverpool’s manager Kenny Dalglish was forced into selecting the youngster due to injuries to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Martin-Kelly-c24395.
On the other hand, Roberto http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gareth-Barry-c14423 as their two midfielders,
whilst http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Aleksandar-Kolarov-c4475 began the match as Manchester City’s two wing
backs.
Liverpool initiated the match as the livelier of the two sides in front of their home crowd. Their energetic approach to the match caught the visiting team off-guard on several occasions in the first ten minutes of the matchup. In the 5th minute
of the match, signs of Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll’s threatening partnership were evident as the Englishman held the ball up for Suarez whose shot was blocked by Kolarov. However, the loose ball fell to Dirk Kuyt whose effort from 18 yards out missed Manchester
City’s goal by a few inches, as the score line remained at nil all at Anfield.
In the 6th minute, Suarez was leading the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Joe-Hart-c18699 into
an incredible save with a powerful low drive. The English national team goalkeeper only managed to tip the ball onto the post as Kolarov cleared up for in his team’s penalty area. In the 7th minute, Manchester City embarked on a counter attack as
Carlos Tevez’s cross was deflected off Skrtel into Boyata’s path. The right back only managed to skew his shot over the bar as Liverpool survived their first real scare of the match.
