Liverpool versus Manchester City – Premier League Picks – Gameweek 13 – 2st Half
Things set to hot up in the Barclays Premier League on the weekend as Liverpool host Manchester City at Anfield and after going through the http://www.senore.com/Liverpool-versus-Manchester-City-Premier-League-Picks-Gameweek-13-1st-Half-a114421 that Liverpool have to offer, it is now time to get to business of the home team.
Midfielders: Charlie Adam again?
Inspirational Liverpool captain, Steven Gerrard is near certain to miss the crucial tie at Anfield so ruling him out is the first order of business.
The next order of business is to look at the players one can look to include in their squad who will go on to earn a return for their Fantasy Premier League managers.
Dirk Kuyt has a knack of scoring vital goals in matches such as these, however the Dutch international has had trouble finding the back of the net in recent matches and his ‘assists’ have been next to non-existent.
Jordan Henderson is unlikely to start the match, though he did make an impact when he came on against Chelsea. The important thing though is that the impact did not turn up any points.
Lucas Leiva is another option yet he tends to be more defensive when playing in midfield and the only thing he tends to be good for are tackles and yellow cards.
Stuart Downing has been a bit of a disappointment since his move to Anfield on the points scoring front and it looks unlikely that he will be able to buck that trend against the likes of City’s back four.
In the end, it seems almost out of a lack of choice that we have to recommend Charlie Adam. Yet to be honest, the former Blackpool skipper deserves to be highlighted on the basis of merit as well.
His pass to Glenn Johnson set up the right back’s goal and he has been setting up and scoring goals on a quite regular basis. Earning eight points against West Bromwich Albion and then another five against Chelsea, he is one of Liverpool’s most consistent players.
Strikers: ‘low return’ Luis Suarez or ‘might not play’ Andy Carroll
Yes, Craig Bellamy will be going against his old club if he plays on the weekend and yes, players tend to score when they return to play against their old clubs, yet there is a huge question mark as to whether or not the Wales international will have any time on the pitch come Sunday.
So it is down to Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll. The former is priced at 9.4-million and although he is perhaps the most influential player in a Red’s shirt at the moment, his performances do not translate into points on a regular enough basis.
On the other hand, Andy Carroll holds the club record for the most expensive transfer and yet the former Newcastle United striker barely features. It is important to note that Carroll did score a brace against City in the same fixture last year.
All in all, Suarez would be the safer option if one had to choose a striker from this game, yet we would recommend that managers look elsewhere for an easier way to earn points.
Our pick from Liverpool for the weekend is Charlie Adam.
