Liverpool vs Fulham – Liverpool hang on after taking lead via own-goal
Liverpool were looking to take on Fulham at Anfield, in a game which could potentially see the Reds sky rocket back into the top half of the table and sit pretty in the seventh spot.
The match kicked off with both the teams looking to go at it from the opening few minutes. However, once the game started to evolve, Liverpool developed a strong footing in it. Despite that fact though, neither of the two sides could really find an opening in the first forty five minutes and as a result both sides were level at the half time break.
However things were quite different in the second half as on the 52nd minute, Liverpool took the lead. The goal itself was a rather dubious one; http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Raul-Meireles-c30678 who got a touch on the ball, however, Pantsil rushed in his clearance on the ball but managed to miscue it completely. David Stockdale was caught following the path of the ball from the first strike at goal that was unleashed by Torres, but eventually saw the ball get pawed over the line by his own feet and as a result Liverpool had the lead via an own-goal.
Fulham took the next thirty minutes to get back into the game, but when they did, they really gave http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 a run for their money.
The visitors started testing http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Pepe-Reina-c29672 rather well in the last ten minutes and had not one but three chances at goal, which were either sent just wide, or were saved on the line. The last and best effort fell to the feet of Dembele, who was freed in front of goal by Clint Dempsey. However, the forward's shot on the 88th minute, just didn't have what was needed to beat Reina.
As a result, Liverpool hung on till the last minute of the game, to see themselves come out on top by a score line of one goal to nil.
