Gameweek 19 in the Fantasy Premier League has concluded after another hectic few nights of action in the Barclays Premier League and we take a look at the players.
Kenny Dalglish’s Liverpool side took on Alan Pardew’s highflying Newcastle United at Anfield, with the home side having problems taking all three points in front of their home crowd. Liverpool knew that with half the season gone it was, in more ways than
one, a must win game for the Reds.
The away side took the lead in the first half after a wicked cross took a deflection off the shoulder of Liverpool defender, Daniel Agger which wrong footed the keeper Pepe Reina and the ball found its way to the back of the net.
Liverpool responded with two goals from Craig Bellamy with one coming not five minutes after the home side conceding the first one before a second half free kick had his name on the score sheet once more.
Steven Gerrard came off the bench to score the Reds’ third as Liverpool took away all 3 points on the night.
Liverpool Player Points:
Pepe Reina: 2 points – the Liverpool keeper barely had anything to do the entire match apart from picking the ball out of the back of his net and thus 2 points was all he managed, despite being solid throughout.
Daniel Agger: 4 points – was unfortunate to have scored an own goal on the night, in what was otherwise a pretty solid performance. He also set up one of the goals for an assist and earned a Bonus Point in the process.
Martin Skrtel: 2 points – conceding a goal is never a great thing for a defender and for Fantasy Premier League managers it is even worse. Despite his goal line clearance heroics, Skrtel has to settle for just two points.
Jose Enrique and Glenn Johnson: 2 points – Both the Liverpool fullbacks could not help themselves to any points due to the fact that they conceded the goal and because they could not make anything happen upfront either.
Steven Gerrard: 8 points – only Liverpool’s captain could manage earning 8-points on a cameo appearance. Gerrard came on as a substitute and stole the show with a well taken goal.
Jordan Henderson: 6 points – while the England Under-21 captain may have had a relatively quiet evening, he did manage to set up Steven Gerrard for his goal and earned a few points for an assist in the process.
Charlie Adam: 4 points – was taken off at 58 minutes which meant he only got the one point for minutes played, however during that time he did help in one of Bellamy’s goals which earned him three points for an assist.
