Gameweek 19 in the Fantasy Premier League has concluded after another hectic few nights of action in the Barclays Premier League and we take a look at the players.
Jay Spearing: 2 points – the young scouse midfielder was lucky to still be walking after he was on the receiving end of a dangerous tackle. He may not have earned many Fantasy Premier League points for his defensive display but he did put
in a stern performance.
Stuart Downing: 2 points – interestingly enough, Downing had the most opportunities in the match but was unable to put a single one away. His lack of goals means that the former Aston Villa winger has fallen down the Fantasy Premier League
pecking order.
Dirk Kuyt: 1 point – coming on as a substitute, Kuyt barely got a touch of the ball, hence the low score this week.
Craig Bellamy: 13 points – the former Newcastle United striker was at his absolute best in a vintage display. Equalising for the home side in the first half with a well placed shot, Bellamy then went on to slot home with a free kick in the
second half in a man-of-the-match performance and three bonus points.
Andy Carroll: 2 points – the pressure is building up in the big man to start delivering and another 2 point return will not please any of the fans or Fantasy Premier League managers. However, Carroll was unlucky as he hit the post with a
powerful header and seemed to come alive when Gerrard was introduced.
Newcastle United
Tim Krul: 1 point – The Newcastle United keeper did not have the best of nights as he was deducted one point for conceding more than two goals to finish with only a single point in the last match of the previous year.
Mike Williamson, Fabricio Coloccini and Ryan Taylor: 1 point –
the three Newcastle United defenders all ended with one point a piece for the same reasons as their goal keeper: conceding more than two goals and not doing anything upfront either.
Yohan Cabaye: 5 points – seemed the liveliest player in the away squad as he was not only involved in setting up his side’s goal but he also was not shying away from the tackles. One of which was a rather dangerous one on Jay Spearing.
Gabriel Obertan, Cheick Tiote and Haris Vuckic: 2 points – not a night to remember for any of the Newcastle United midfielders as they ended the game with only the points they earned from the minutes they played.
Hatem Ben Arfa and Jonas Gutierrez: 1 point – Ben Arfa came on as a substitute and did pretty much nothing of note while the latter was booked meaning his contribution was deducted one point.
