Liverpool vs. Wigan Athletic; a key battle

http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Raul-Meireles-c30678 strike that helped Liverpool march on and make it four wins on the bounce along with four consecutive clean sheets. It’s a big task for Wigan to travel to Anfield when the team is playing so well.
Although we believe this should be an easy win for Liverpool, there will be some key battles over the pitch and if Wigan can win most of those, then they certainly can spring a surprise at Anfield.

This is a really interesting one, as Gohouri has the strength to muscle out any striker in the league. Luis Suarez, who will be making his start, will get his first taste of physical action of the Premier League.
The former Ajax man has got abundance of talent. His pace and trickery will be a cause of concern for the Wigan. However, this will be his first outing and nerves will play a part.
Suarez made his debut against Stoke and scored a goal after only 16 minutes. The pressure of scoring the first goal is off his back now and Kenny Dalglish is sure to tell him to go and enjoy his football. There is no doubt about the talent of the Uruguayan but against a physical player like Gohouri, he might not enjoy, for being bundled over and over again.
Wigan need to ensure a check on him, as he has the ability to pull a rabbit out of the hat and he will be going out there to impress his new supporters.
Raul Meireles v Mohamed Diame
Diame needs to be at his very best to keep a lid on the chances given to the Portuguese. The former Porto man is relishing in his new role behind the front man. He has the freedom to roam around the pitch and find pocket of spaces. His technical ability allows him to manoeuvre around players and find a telling pass.
He is in rich vein of form in front of the goal. After failing to find the net last year, he has scored four in his last five. Diame again has the physical presence and from what has been seen so far, Meireles isn’t comfortable playing against the teams who are physical. It might require more than one man to stop him, but if they can, they stand a good chance of, at least, taking a point of Liverpool.
