Liverpool vs. Wolverhampton Wanderers: Fantasy Premier League Picks – Gameweek 6
After the distraction of the Carling Cup in midweek, it is time now for the top-20 sides in England to return to the Barclays Premier League, where they will resume their weekly bouts in what promises to be an interesting weekend of action. Interesting,
because those teams who one expects to be flying, are struggling and vice versa.
Secondly, because two evenly placed teams are set to battle it out on Saturday, with the winner moving on to double figures in the points table.
One of those sides is Kenny Dalglish’s Liverpool and the other is a side that is known to throw more than a fair share of surprises, Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Overview
Liverpool managed to hang on in a nervy 2-1 win over Brighton during their midweek Carling Cup match. Although the Reds looked far from convincing, the linkup between the two strikers, Luis Suarez and Craig Bellamy, was sensational.
However, in the league, Liverpool is still looking to end their current two match losing streak and get back to winning ways. Wolves will not be a pushover though, as the side have managed to amass the same number of points as their opponents and will fancy
their chances.
Liverpool, though, are a different side at home and should come away with all three points when the final whistle blows at Anfield.
Goal Keeper
On any other occasion we would have shouted the name of Liverpool Goal Keeper, Pepe Reina, however, the Reds’ shot stopper has been out of form of late, conceding in almost match this season.
Things are not any better for Wolves either with Wayne Hennessey conceding in the previous two matches as well.
So, it would be best if managers stayed away from picking a keeper from this match. Chelsea keeper, Petr Cech, would be a good option though.
Defenders
We cannot emphasise enough as to how important wing backs are when it comes to earning points. Jose Enrique has shown plenty of promise but has failed to deliver in terms of points.
Martin Kelly is back to full fitness and showed promise against Brighton. The question that everyone will be asking themselves as their pointer hovers over Kelly’s buy option is whether or not Kenny Dalglish will play him after his midweek duties.
Midfielders
A tough one this, seeing how our favourite player, Charlie Adam, is suspended, though there is good news as Steven Gerrard featured in Liverpool’s midweek Carling Cup win. Whether or not Gerrard will start is another issue and Dalglish will most likely use
him as a substitute.
Dirk Kuyt may be expensive but he is a good option as it seems the Dutchman will get a place in the starting 11.
Strikers
The link up play and the movement of both Liverpool strikers, Luis Suarez and Craig Bellamy was promising and if the Liverpool manager opts to play them alongside each other again, we would be happy to recommend either of the two players for Fantasy Premier
League managers to pick.
Our picks: Craig Bellamy was phenomenal against Brighton and will be looking to emulate that performance against Wolves, which is exactly what we are counting on.
