Liverpool chairman, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Tom-c35214 Werner, has played down the suggestion that the Reds will sell Luis Suarez in January in exchange for big bucks.
The Uruguayan International has recently been linked to a sensational 40 million pounds move to Manchester City in January. However, the Anfield boss, Brendan Rodgers, and the striker himself have rubbished the talk of his exodus from Merseyside.
Suarez currently holds the key position in the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 squad, and has been in blistering form since the start of the season. He has already hit the back of the net on 10 occasions in 12 league games, more than any other player in the competition so far.
Besides that, time and again, the forward has displayed his eye-catching prowess upfront, tormenting the oppositions from the wings and at times, single-handedly creating opportunities out of nothing.
Although the title holders, City, are expected to splash the cash in the January window in order to acquire the services of the prolific attacker, the Liverpool chairman has revealed that the player won’t be put in the market.
The Anfield supremo said that the club were looking to further strengthen the squad, not to weaken it, and viewed Suarez as an important member of the unit for many more years to come.
“He's a beautiful player to watch and as a Liverpool fan I hope I'm watching him for many years to come. We wouldn't even consider selling him, absolutely not,” he told the reporters.
“We made a long-term contract with him in the summer and we are going to see a lot of his play at Liverpool.”
Liverpool experienced an unproductive summer window, which saw them lose the services of scores of forwards, and failing to bring in their suitable replacements.
The events which followed saw the team stumble in the term’s preamble, further highlighting the need for the owners to land in more players in January.
And that is exactly what Werner plans on addressing in the coming months.
“We know that January is a challenging time and I don't want to say we've got X or Y player, but hopefully the fans will be pleased with what we do accomplish,” he added.
