Liverpool's Dirk Kuyt never lost faith in Fernando Torres
Liverpool forward Dirk Kuyt has insisted he, and the rest of his Liverpool team-mates, always believed star striker Fernando Torres would regain his form, following the Spaniard’s stunning
brace against Chelsea on Sunday, 7 November.
"We always had the confidence in Fernando, no doubt about that. You can see the team playing better now every week and in every game, and Fernando is also getting better and better. He
finished his goals in a brilliant way,” Kuyt told the club's official website.
Liverpool’s win over top-of-the-table Chelsea was undeniably their finest moment of a so far beleaguered season, with victory over the reigning Premier League champions coupled with a
virtuoso display from their previously out-of-form striker, pointing to better times ahead.
Kuyt was quick to draw attention to the side’s excellent showing, before stating how delighted he was to be back on the pitch following a five game injury absence.
"We were really satisfied with the team performance. I thought we played really well in the first half and then in the second we had to defend, but everyone did a great job. To see Fernando
finish from my assist was a perfect moment. I have worked really hard to get back to fitness and I know Chelsea isn't the easiest game to come back in, but it was a great day. It's also a big plus to our medical team who have worked hard to get me fit again
so quickly. They have helped me a lot and I am very thankful to them."
The Dutchman is usually an unspectacular figure at Anfield, with the likes of Steven Gerrard and Torres usually grabbing the headlines. However, he showed his worth to the side on Sunday
with a dedicated display that typified the 30-year-old, adding an outstanding pass to set up the crucial opening goal.
