The veteran defender may not be heading out with the England side to play in the Euros but that has not stopped him from adding his opinion to what his national side need in order to enjoy success in the tournament.

Carragher continued, “For Roy Hodgson to be a successful England manager he also needs to be a lucky one.”
The former England international also conceded that Hodgson may have had a difficult time recently and felt that the manager had, “taken over England during a period of transition, parachuted in at a time he wouldn’t have expected and already having to cope with difficult circumstances,” such as the outcry from certain sections of the media as well as a plethora of injuries to his squad.
