Liverpool's Jamie Carragher claims draw against Bolton Wanderers would have been fair result

Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher says that it would have made for a fair result if his side’s English Premier League clash with Bolton Wanderers on Sunday, 31 October had ended in a draw.

That was not quite the case, however, as the reds picked up three points for the second game in a row with Maxi Rodriguez netting the only goal of the game in the 87th minute after being played in by Spanish striker Fernando Torres.

While the win took Liverpool out of the relegation zone and into 12th place, Carragher claims that he and his team-mates may have been lucky to pick up their first away victory of the campaign.

The 32-year-old told Sky Sports that: "I don't think anyone deserved to win to be honest I don't think there was too many chances. It's always a difficult game here at Bolton.

"[Bolton forward] Kevin Davies had a header late on, and that could have been it for them, and our chance has gone in. It was a really tight game but that's the Premiership for you."
'Step in the right direction'
Meanwhile, Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson believes that the victory was a positive step for his side, adding that he hoped his attackers would become more potent in front of goal.

He said that: "It is still too early to be too optimistic but at least it is a step in the right direction. The players now know they have got the ability to dig in, even in games like this, which is a good thing to know. It is nice to see a little bit of light
at the end of the tunnel.

"We had so much of the ball, so many situations where I thought we had opportunities and we wasted them. Luckily one more came up and we took it.”
