Liverpool’s Reira expected to leave, Jonjo Shelvey eager to play for “dream” club
Former Charlon Athletic player Jonjo Shelvey, aims to make at least 20 appearances for his new club Liverpool in the coming season. Jonjo officially joined Liverpool at the end of last season, and has been training hard with his new team mates in Switzerland. The 18 year old expects to play for Liverpool in the coming season.
The attacking midfielder added that joining Liverpool is the dream of every young footballer. He claimed that when he was young, he used to pretend that he was Steven Gerrard, while playing in his school playground. Jonjo added that it’s unbelievable that now he will be able to train with such players on a daily basis.
Shelvey was excited about joining his dream club, and is relishing the idea of playing for Liverpool. The 18 year old claimed that he couldn’t wait for the new season any longer and wants to play at least 20 times for the Reds, to gradually get the hang of things. Jonjo was confident and insisted that at an age of 18, he’s at Liverpool, and therefore fears nothing. The midfielder added that he just has to go and do his best on the field.
Shelvey is an extremely talented young player, and was his former club’s youngest player, when he made his first team debut at a tender age of 16. Jonjo therefore is willing to accept the challenge of adapting to the difficult lifestyle at Anfield.
"Obviously it's a different lifestyle compared to being at Charlton”, claimed the midfielder.
The 18-year old was aware of the difference in lifestyle between Charlton and Liverpool, and admitted that the training is harder and tougher. Jonjo added that everyone in the Liverpool outfit is a trained, top professional and things are totally different than that of his previous club. The player however insisted that he’d be able to cope up with the difference, and is enjoying every moment of living his dream. Jonjo Shelvey confessed that the feeling of perhaps playing in Premier League has not fully sunk into his mind, and claimed the feeling to be “unreal”.
Jonjo aims to make a name for himself at his new club, just like he did at Charlton. The 18 year old was a consistent goal scorer, even though he was a midfielder, and aims to do the same at Liverpool. Jonjo labelled himself as being an all action player, claiming that he had the ability to score, create opportunities and defend when needed. Jonjo added that he played as an attacking midfielder, behind the striker, but would want to play in the central midfield, where he can be himself and dictate things.
Jonjo Shelvey claimed that he has learned a lot from just watching Premier League games at home, and stated that in the Premier league, players get more time and space on the ball than in League one, and that suits him well. He aimed to impress the fans using his ability and claimed that he can’t wait to impress everyone.
Owing to the arrival of Joe Cole at Liverpool, Albert Riera, who plays on the left wing for Liverpool, is speculated to leave Anfield. Riera has been far from impressive with Liverpool, making only 40 appearances for his side, and scoring only three times. Although the new manager, Roy Hodgson, has promised all of his players that they will be given fresh opportunities, many believe that the Spanish winger is going to leave Liverpool.
Milan Jovanovic is another winger who signed with the Reds, and Reira chances to play in the squad seem to be bleak. It has been reported that Greek side Olympiakos fancy the Spanish winger, and are ready to pay 4 million pounds for the unsettled winger. Reira couldn’t fully adapt to English style of play, even though he has spent 2 years with Liverpool and a year with Manchester City on loan in 2006.
