Liverpool’s Ryan Babel might end up at Ajax
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ryan-Babel-c31971 is all set to leave Liverpool after spending four seasons at Anfield. Liverpool have agreed a transfer agreement for the player with Bundesliga club Hoffenheim. The deal has reportedly been settled for €7 million. However,
Babel’s agent Winnie Haatrecht has revealed that the player’s priority is still a move to his former club Ajax.
Babel joined Liverpool from Ajax in 2007 and after a low profile time at Anfield, he wishes to return to the Dutch club. Haatrecht has stated that a move to Hoffenheim will only be finalized if a move to Ajax fails.
He said, “Hoffenheim will only be an option if Ryan isn't allowed to go on loan to Ajax or they do not want him.”
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 have been linked with Ajax star Luis Suarez and Babel believes that the two clubs could reach an agreement for a swap deal. He said, “The transfer of Suarez to Liverpool opens the door for me to go to Ajax. If Liverpool
and Ajax whether in combination with Luis can reach an agreement over me I will surely come to the club. For the chance to play I am willing to settle for far less pay. For a player of my age it is important to be playing week in week out.”
Ajax, on the other hand, does not seem content to let their Uruguayan striker leave the club. The club has stated, “Babel would be an interesting project but nothing is done. There might be news later this week. We want to keep
Luis and only obscene offers would be enough."
The departure of Babel will certainly deplete the already weak Liverpool bench. Hence, the club’s manager Kenny Dalglish will be looking to recruit a new striker before the January transfer window closes.
Liverpool currently lies 13th on the Premier League table with only 26 points. They have managed to bag only 7 wins in 22 matches in the current League season and have already lost 10 matches. They were also knocked
out of the FA Cup a few days ago by League leaders Manchester United. After that loss, Babel was fined £10,000 by the Football Association (FA).
The fine was levied after Babel posted a comment on referee Howard Webb, who officiated the FA Cup tie, on Twitter. The Dutchman also posted a retouched picture of referee Webb wearing a United shirt. Webb had awarded a penalty
to the Red Devils in the initial stages of the match and later reduced the Liverpool side to 10 men by issuing a red card to their captain http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Steven-Gerrard-c34196.
A concern for Liverpool fans will be that in the event of an injury to their club’s premier striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fernando-Torres-c13707, Dalglish will not have many options to fall to after Babel’s departure. The Dutch striker’s goal-scoring record
at Anfield was not impressive. However, his talent and pace with the ball proved lethal on many occasions.
Some believe that lack of first-team starts came in the way of Babel becoming a great player. He was never able to secure a starting eleven spot in the Liverpool line-up. He was regularly seated on the bench by former Liverpool
managers Rafael Benitez and Roy Hodgson, for which the two managers were consistently criticized by club fans and football experts.
In the four seasons Babel stayed at Anfield, he managed to score 22 goals in 146 matches. He is currently in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 undergoing a medical and finalizing personal terms with Hoffenheim. However, if a possible move to Ajax arises,
the Dutchman will surely be inclined to a move back to his former club in his homeland.
