Liverpool’s goalkeeper, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Pepe-Reina-c29672, satisfied with Kenny Dalglish and enters into talks with Comolli
Liverpool fans will be overjoyed when they learn that their beloved goalkeeper, Pepe Reina, has decided to extend his stay at Anfield. There have been no official announcements about the decision but the good news for Merseyside might just be in store.
Speculation of Reina making a move to Manchester United or Barcelona have been flying around since last summer after the English and Spanish outfit showed interest in acquiring his services.
However, recently media reports and statements from Reina himself have confirmed that there have been talks between him and the Director of Liverpool, Damien Comolli.
These statements and talks imply progress towards an extension in Reina’s contract. There will be a definite change in his wages but that might be sided with an extension in his tenure with the Reds.
Reina would not mind an extension in his tenure since the Spanish international has shown faith in his manager, Kenny Dalglish, and his teammates.
In a recent press release, the loyal Red told the media that he was looking forward to the summer break and expected next season to be big for Liverpool.
Reina admitted he was exuberant over the change Dalglish had inspired Liverpool with and hoped that the team continues to perform with the same zeal in to the next season.
The 28-year-old Barcelona-bred player said, “Everything has changed, the whole situation of the club. Recently I have talked with Comolli, asking about the future, and I believe in the club and this project. I am happy here. We know how much work there is
to be done, but I believe we are in the right place and we are going in the right direction. Next season will be more positive”.
He added, “The quicker we improve, the better for the club, but we cannot change overnight. The owners are preparing a big summer and hopefully the players that come in will improve the squad”.
Reina also admitted that there could be a drastic change in Liverpool’s squad in comparison to this season’s squad.
The former Villarreal player said that Comolli and Dalglish are aiming to bring new players to Anfield which is a good sign.
In spite of Reina’s contentment with Liverpool, United and Barcelona will probably attempt to tempt Reina again this summer.
