Liverpool’s likely candidates for January Transfer Window – Part 2
David Wheater actually started with Middlesborough’s youth academy and made it into their first team in 2004. Since then, this player has made a hundred and thirty one appearances for the club, having scored seven goals which is a decent tally for a player
who plays his position in the further side of the football field.
He has definitely matured as a footballer and that is crystal clear when you see him play. He shows consistent form, is a playmaker starting numerous attacks and stands as a hard brick wall when it comes to deflecting attacks from the opposing team.
Recently, there has been a lot of speculation about the future of Glen Johnson and Daniel Agger in Liverpool. Roy Hodgson has been interested in Wheater for some time now and Wheater will be in the transfer market on a reasonable price.
As this player fits the profile Comolli wants to sign, so it is almost certain that Reds will make an official bid on him soon.
He has also been a part of the Three Lions squad and was called up as a replacement on the fifteenth of October 2008 to put in place of John Terry as the English captain was held back because of an injury that he sustained while playing for the Blues' league
play.
Wheater got some experience in international play with the Three Lions squad in 2008 when he played against France, Trinidad and Tobago.
This player will also be another tall extension to Liverpool that will definitely help in the team’s aerial abilities as he is six feet five inches tall.
Adam Barton:
Adam Barton is a nineteen year old Irish footballer who currently plays for Preston North End. He started with Blackburn Rovers but because of a serious back injury that the youngster sustained, he was let go.
Then Preston North End’s youth program gave him a chance and added him to the academy in 2006. After two years in the little league, he made it to the big ones.
From 2008 onwards, he has been part of Preston North End and made sixteen appearances as a midfielder with a single goal scored. In 2009, he made a loan spell to Crawley Town but made only two official appearances for that team.
He has also been a part of the Northern Ireland national team but as of yet has only made a single appearance. He was added to the national squad in September.
Adam Barton was a part of the under-twenty one team, but withdrew from that team only a day after the official announcement was made for the addition of the player as he would have lost his eligibility for the English national team by participating in a
competitive match against them.
Then on the twelfth of November 2010, this Irish player was invited to play in the friendly against Morocco and despite the numerous withdrawals from the team, he ended up playing the full ninety minutes.
Barton is a five feet eleven inch player who is considered to be a talented young midfielder. One with a promising future in football.
As Barton is a lower division English player, he will most likely make a move to Liverpool's reserve team. His performances there would judge his move to the first team squad and also his future at Anfield.
