Liverpool’s former Italian midfielder, Alberto Aquilani, has managed to cause unintentional controversy in almost all clubs he has been with. His emergence from Rome saw him play at his home club, Roma. Arsenal constantly came up with offers for the youngster
but Liverpool succeeded in acquiring his services. Aquilani later moved back to Italy to play for Juventus on loan but now he is expected to return to Anfield.
Aquilani arrived under Rafael Benitez’s reign and was supposed to be the saviour of Kop but the Italian never managed to pick up the English game style.
Misery tolled on him when the midfielder was restricted to the sidelines due to constant injuries. Slowly he grew out of favour and eventually he was sent on loan to Juventus.
His £20 million arrival had bore no fruit for Liverpool so Anfield considered loading off the Italian international.
As a matter of fact, Benitez’s replacement, Roy Hodgson’s first plan of action was to send Aquilani on loan to Juventus.
The new Liverpool manager, Kenny Dalglish, however, has given contradictory opinions of Aquilani’s fate at Anfield.
He stated in the media, “There's a distinct possibility he could be back here. He's a quality player. He got off to a bad start here with his injuries and never really got going after missing pre-season”.
The legendary Scotsman has admired Aquilani’s game and during the winter transfer window there were rumours of the former Roma player making a return to Anfield.
Aquilani has yet to clear his stance on the issue. His statements can prove to be conclusive on the saga.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 player and manager, Dalgish, went on to extol Aquilani’s form this season.
The Scotsman said, “He went out on loan and has done very well over there. If he was to come back here, for me that would be like a new face coming in. I don't know of any deadline, I wasn't privy to the conversations that were had”.
Dalglish’s comments paint a picture in which Aquilani can be seen wearing a Red jersey in the upcoming season.
Aquilani still has three years left on the five year contract he signed under Benitez’s era. Dalglish optimistic approach to give Aquilani a second chance shows that there is a major probability of the Italian making a return to Liverpool next season.
