Livia Galilei in form for the Mcenery Cup Handicap
The Mcenery Cup Handicap has attracted a line-up of six three-year and above runners for the mile and four furlongs at Gowran park on Wednesday, 15th August. Quite a few have either been placed in the recent outings that they undertook or claimed
them. The prize money set for the race is €13,000.
The most stable entry among the candidates is the three-year-old bay filly, Livia Galilei who has finished fourth just once, was placed thrice and credited the two remaining races against her name as successes.
The seasonal debut of the Irish bay filly was in the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund 3YO Maiden on 22nd April, 2012 at Curragh over a mile and two furlongs. She ended fourth while the race was won by, Aklan.
Galileo’s filly then improved to the runner-up’s position in the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund 3YO Fillies Maiden on 11th May, 2012 at Cork over a mile and four furlongs.
She missed the race by the margin of 2 ¼ lengths which favoured the favourite entry of the race, Montebell.
Third outing down the season saw the filly out of, Mohican Princess, winning the race. She won the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Fillies Handicap on 10th June, 2012 at Curragh over a mile and four furlongs.
Livia Galilei was paired up with jockey, Rory Cleary, for the race, and the two gave the competitors a hard time during the decisive stages of the race. She defeated Glamorous by the margin of 2 ¾ lengths.
Reserving the third position behind the winner was the favourite entry, Rising Wind.
The next two races that followed saw the conviction and the confidence level of the J. S. Bolger trained wavering as she finished second and then third.
Pulling back into the form, the three-year-old won the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Connacht Oaks Fillies handicap on 8th August, 2012 at Sligo over a mile and four furlongs.
She won the race by the margin of 1 ½ lengths while riding with jockey, Rory Cleary.
The 7 to 2 shot for the race today will be paired up with the same jockey, and the two will take on from the second gate.
