Living Air Classic Emitting awful Smoke smell

Help! I've had my Living Air Classic since 2003 and it is now emitting an awful smokey smell! It's awful and I'm afraid that its broken. Is it possible that it needs a new part or needs maintenance rather than its broken? If so where in Los Angeles can I take it? Thank you so much!
